Root: The Underworld Expansion

A new power rises beneath the Woodland while secret plans take shape among the trees. Root: The Underworld Expansion introduces two new factions to the asymmetric strategy board game: the Underground Duchy and the Corvid Conspiracy. Lead an underground kingdom to the surface or pressure your opponents with hidden plots, bluffing and deception.

The expansion also includes a double-sided board featuring two new maps. On the Mountain map, you clear blocked paths and compete for the mountain pass. The Lake map introduces a ferry for travelling across the water. Both your opponents and the battlefield bring fresh challenges to the struggle for the Woodland.

Why Choose Root: The Underworld Expansion?

Root: The Underworld Expansion is an appealing addition for players who enjoy mastering unfamiliar factions. The Underground Duchy combines military development with winning ministerial support, while the Corvid Conspiracy focuses on hidden information and reading opponents. This creates opportunities for both carefully developed plans and daring deception.

The two new maps also give familiar factions fresh challenges. Mountain passes, blocked routes and ferry travel encourage you to reconsider access and positioning. A rewarding choice for Root fans seeking greater variety, player interaction and tactical possibilities.
